Novaquark’s Dual Universe is by all accounts an ambitious game in the making. Promising a pioneering server technology, in-depth sandbox features, and an infinite number of detailed planets, the game has captivated the minds of thousands of players. Despite a strict non-disclosure agreement, the fascinated and curious alike continue to gather in droves. A claimed policy of openness and community interaction has sparked a self-sustaining cycle of community generated content. The game recently entered its Alpha stage of development and the community site boasts over 2,000 organisations. The official community Discord (founded by a player – but now run by the game’s developers), has over 3,500 members.
As the game progresses in its development, Outpost Zebra meets the game’s most popular organisations and asks the questions that matter.
One of the most stable organisations in the top ten, the Empire is also one of the most reserved. Formed and lead by Kytheum, the organisation has one of the longest streaks of stable growth. Ever marching upwards, Kytheum’s brainchild is Dual Universe’s third largest organisation. Like the Terran Union, it was also formed quite early.
‘The Empire was founded on the 18th of August in 2016, which is as I recall, at most a week after the organisation’s page was launched.’ Kytheum told us.
For today’s entry, I had the chance to talk to the Blue Moon Crew. It’s one of the smaller organisations in our community. Or perhaps, the word ‘enterprise’ depicts them better, you can be the judge of that after reading today’s entry. In trying to set up a meeting with the Blue Moon Crew, I was faced with just one small problem. Space is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist, but that’s just peanuts to space.
About the author:
I live in a beautiful, old town in Wisconsin. For the last forty years, I have been a programmer, all the time at the same job, but I will be retiring the end of this summer.
I enjoy writing. Besides what I have written for Dual Universe, I have several stories at: https://www.Writing.Com/
I have played more single player games than online ones, mostly building games like Space Engineers or role-playing games like Fallout or the Elder Scrolls series. I have tried several MMO’s but most of the time, my only interaction with the other players has been an occasional conversation. It is rather surprising to me how much Dual Universe has drawn me into its community, even before there is anything to play.
